The Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra takes a very active participation in holding the International Children Competition “Nutcracker” which “Kultura” holds annually beginning from 2000. This outstanding collective appeared about 100 times on the air! Only during latest years the TV channel “Kultura” transmitted the great cycles of the orchestra, such as “Beethoven and… Beethoven” (all symphonies and instrumental concertos of the composer), “Aimez-vous Brahms?” (all symphonies and instrumental concertos of the composer), “S. Rakhmaninov. Roots and environment” (symphonic compositions and concertos of the composer and his contemporaries), “Soiree of Vienna music” and also operas and ballets of Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Prokofiev, symphonies of Mozart, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and others.

Since 140 years, when Franz Josef I of Austria started to build the building of the Vienna community of friends of music (Musikverein)m its Gold hall is considered as one of the most prestigious European philharmonic area. The best Vienna concert hall is “home” of the famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Such great conductors as Wilhelm Furtwängler, Bruno Walter, Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim were afforded the hounor of conducting there.

The Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra headed by its artistic director and chief conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev has become the first one of the Russian orchestras which was twice invited to perform at this famous stage with a cycle of concerts. The tour in 2005 when The Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra performed five days running in Musikverein was called triumphal.

This event represents an important phase in the cultural relations of Russia and Austria. Besides this, the European tour is dedicated to a significant event in the orchestra’s live: 35 years ago Vladimir Fedoseyev headed The Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra. Maestro will present the program consicted of Beethoven and Tchaikovsky’s symphonies whose compositions always were the basis of the orchestra’s repertoire. “Beethoven – is one of my strong and deep affection! – Vladimir Fedoseyev says. – It is necessary to perceive Beethoven the whole live and only at the end of course of live, probably, the awareness of truthful greatness of his genius will come… Respecting the traditions, I was looking for a long time my own key to Beethoven’s world. Token of success – is a maximum approaching to score, to Beethoven’s instructions. Beethoven is amazingly modern! Beethoven is out of time. And Tchaikovsky’s music will always exist while people exist in the world. It stirs up such emotions, penetrates in depths of people’s soul, so sincere and perfect that it can do nothing but touch the most innermost its strings”. Also for the first time in Vienna will take place cello concerto of almost unknown for the European audience N. Myaskovsky.

The tour is held with support of “Gazprom export” (Russia) and OMV (Austria).
