Vladimir Fedoseyev: To the 170th anniversary of P.I. Tchaikovsky

Thanks God that we revere, love, play and listen to Tchaikovsky not only during his jubilee days! He is always in our heart, in our life and the jubilee days and years just remind us about the events of his fate as a momentary freeze-frame inside a strong stream of his eternal music. When I look through the score of Piotr Tchaikovsky, I turn up to them quite often, with each new performance I see something novel and I understand that Tchaikovsky lives my life together with me. No, not only mine – our life. He is inside the time, he changes with it applying to me, to us with the very thought and force that are necessary for the moment, in the instants of the galloping time stream. That is why we are listening, we want to listen his symphonic music many many times as if we know it but every time we respond to it in a new and different way. Tchaikovsky echoes in everything that has happened and is happening after the creation of the world. We will find in his music response to everything that is going with us. Or, maybe, he managed to make us as a part of his world. I am sure in it, and such Chekhov, such Akhmatova, such Rakhmaninov and such Shostakovich would not exist without it. The beauty of life and its tragedy is Tchaikovsky.
Today I am happy that our orchestra named after Tchaikovsky is again in this sacred place where “the Sixth” was born, where the Holy Spirit and gifts of the God always exist. I am sad that Dvorak with his “Mermaid” on which I am working now diverted me. But Dvorak united with Tchaikovsky forever.
So, Long live, Music! It is our mysterious and saving anchor!
